Career Specialties: Alex Tan’s areas of interest include corporate finance, governance, executive compensation and international finance.
Professional and Community Activities: Tan’s research has been presented at various conferences. He currently serves as co-advisor for the UT Investment Club and secretary for Beta Gamma Sigma. He is a member of EFA, FMA, MFA, SFA and SWFA. He is also a member of Omicron Delta Epsilon, the international economics honor society.
Honors and Awards: Tan received a QEP grant to attend a Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE) seminar in Shanghai. He was awarded the Academic Grant for Faculty to attend the SESUG 2013 conference. Tan completed a series of workshop seminars conducted by the National Society for Experiential Education (NSEE) to earn the Certificate of Knowledge. He also received a Faculty Development Dana Grant to work on his research paper, which was eventually published in the
Journal of Finance and Accountancy
. One of his papers won him the Outstanding Doctoral Student Paper award from SWFA.
