Paracommandos and 1,000 Cadets to Highlight JROTC Drill Meet at UT

**This event has been postponed due to weather and rescheduled for March 29.**

The 40th anniversary of the Lisa Pauchey JROTC Drill Meet at The University of Tampa on Feb. 8 will feature SOCOM paracommandos, more than 1,000 JROTC students from more than 30 schools around the state and UT’s award-winning Army ROTC Spartan Battalion.

The meet will be held at UT’s Pepin Stadium and adjoining intramural field from 7 a.m. until the awards presentation at 5:30 p.m. The highlight will be the SOCOM paracommandos jumping from 12,500 feet and landing in Pepin Stadium.

The schedule follows:

  • 7–7:45 a.m. — Commander’s Meeting
  • 8–8:30 a.m. — Opening Ceremony
  • 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m. — Drill Competition
  • 5–5:30 p.m. — Knockout (a single elimination individual drill competition involving military movements and spinning the drill rifles)
  • 5:30 p.m.— Awards Presentation

The drill meet is named in honor of Lisa S. Pauchey, an outstanding cadet whose life was tragically taken prior to her commissioning and UT graduation in 1982. Thanks to the generosity of the Pauchey family, a memorial-endowed scholarship was established at UT. Annually, an Army ROTC cadet who exemplifies the same outstanding leadership qualities and civic contributions that Pauchey exhibited while at the University is recognized for his or her achievements

UT is consistently named a military friendly school, and UT’s Spartan Battalion, established in 1971, has won virtually every Army ROTC award and recognition.
