Career Specialties
Monnie Wertz has served The University of Tampa in positions of increasing scope and responsibility since 1992, working at the director level in the areas of residence life, student conduct, orientation and student activities, as well as the associate dean of students.
As a professional at The University of Tampa, she has worked to establish several significant programs such as Victim Advocacy, Students of Concern, ELITE student leadership and was the primary author of the Spartan Code, the value statement for the institution. She has experience working with regional and national professional organizations, presenting on issues such as safety, emergency planning, sexual assault and Title IX, and generational research.
She currently works on University resiliency efforts through student case management, victim advocacy and emergency management responsibilities. Her research interests focus on epistemological development and critical thinking skills in collegiate populations.
Professional and Community Activities
Wertz is a member of the Leadership Tampa class of 2019 and the Downtown Tampa Rotary club. She is also a board member of Three Strand Cord, a nonprofit organization committed to building self-sustaining communities in developing countries.
