The University of Tampa major in sport management was recently named an approved program by the National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE) and the North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM).

Sport management resides within the Department of Exercise Science and Sport Studies and provides training to students who desire a professional career in a variety of sport business fields.

NASPE is the preeminent national authority on physical education and a recognized leader in sport and physical activity. NASPE is a nonprofit professional membership association that sets the standard for practice in physical education and sport.

NASSM promotes, stimulates, and encourages study, research, scholarly writing, and professional development in the area of sport management—both theoretical and applied aspects.

According to the NASSM, there are 221 sports management programs in the United States. Of those, 48 have been approved by the NASSM and 50 by the NASPE.
