UT To Offer CFP Board-Registered Executive Certificate Program In Financial Planning

The University of Tampa recently announced that it has been approved by Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. (CFP Board) to begin providing the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) executive certificate program.

An independent certifying organization, CFP Board owns the CFP® and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification marks, which it awards to individuals who meet its education, examination, experience, ethics and other requirements. Students completing the financial planning certificate program at UT will have met the education requirement for CFP® certification examination administered by CFP Board.

"CFP Board is pleased to approve the program at The University of Tampa as a CFP Board registered program," said Richard P. Rojeck, CFP®, chair of CFP Board’s board of directors. "As student interest in financial planning as a career continues to grow, we anticipate that UT’s program will contribute significantly to the number of qualified candidates seeking to attain the CFP® certification, the standard of excellence for competent and ethical financial planning."

Marcus Ingram, chair of the UT Department of Finance, sees the CFP executive certificate program as a nice complement to the degree granting programs of study offered at UT.

"The certificate program offers courses covering a wide range of subjects and practical applications. Plus, it prepares planners and advisors for the certification exam required for the CFP® — a credential clients expect their financial planning professional to hold."

The executive certificate is a non-credit program of study. UT offers a Bachelor of Science in Finance major and a Master of Science in Finance. Persons interested in the program should go to www.ut.edu/CFPExecutiveCertificate for additional information.

Information sessions are scheduled on the UT campus on Oct. 26 and Jan. 5, 2016, at 6 p.m., and an information webinar will be conducted Dec. 1 at noon. To RSVP, email CFPprogram@ut.edu.
