UT’s Business Network Symposium Series Kicks off Oct. 25

On Tuesday, Oct. 25, The University of Tampa will welcome the CEOs of myMatrixx, Odyssey Marine Exploration and SynDaver Labs to kick off the 2016-2017 Business Network Symposium series. There will be a continental breakfast at 7:15 a.m., followed by the program from 7:45–9 a.m. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held in the Vaughn Center Crescent Club, 401 W. Kennedy Blvd.

Artemis Emslie is CEO of myMatrixx, a pharmacy benefit management and ancillary services company focused on workers’ compensation. Emslie, who has 25 years of experience in both the workers’ compensation and group health industries, also co-founded Alliance of Women in Workers’ Compensation, a think tank of engaged thought leaders committed to sharing ideas and mentoring tomorrow’s industry leaders, and she currently serves on its advisory board.

Mark Gordon is CEO of Odyssey Marine Exploration. Odyssey engages in deep-ocean exploration using innovative methods and state-of-the-art technology to discover both historic and modern shipwrecks, and search for deep-ocean minerals. Discovery Channel’s Silver Rush featured Gordon and Odyssey in a three-part series that showcased Odyssey’s work on the SS Gairsoppa, SS Mantola and HMS Victory during their 2012 recovery season.

Dr. Chris Sakezles is the president and CEO of SynDaver Labs, which designs and builds synthetic human body parts and tissues and has been featured on ABC’s Shark Tank. These award-winning products, which have been used on TV shows such as Grey’s Anatomy and MythBusters, are used to replace live animals and human cadavers in medical device tests, for surgical simulation and clinical task training, and in the development of military systems.

The event is sponsored by The University of Tampa Board of Fellows, and the presenting sponsor is LCG Advisors. Other sponsors include the Tampa Bay Business Journal and Sodexo Campus Services.

The Board of Fellows holds this networking event three times a year to allow businesses that are well known, changing or new to the Tampa Bay area the opportunity to share their accomplishments and plans with the business community. The next Business Network Symposium will be held on Jan. 24, 2017, and the final symposium is scheduled for April 25, 2017.
