Wireless Security Tips

  • Wireless connectivity to the Internet is generally not secure. You should not enter personal information such as, social security numbers or credit card information when connected to any wireless network.
  • The University provides wireless network access to complement the extensive wired Ethernet network. Despite the convenience of the UT Wireless Network, access may not consistently provide the same performance and reliability as the wired Ethernet Network.
  • Natural or man-made obstructions may block or limit wireless signals. Interference from other devices that use the same frequency range can interfere with the UT Wireless Network. These may include electrical appliances such as microwave ovens, wireless keyboards and mice, and some cellular phones.
