Letter from the President

"Creating Tomorrow is the future of UT. This University is on the move. We have a proud history and an inspiring mission. The breadth of what we offer in terms of intellectual growth, leadership opportunities, and physical and social development is incredibly compelling.

What better moment than now to become involved? Over the last two decades, UT has experienced extraordinary progress — our enrollment is thriving; our rigorous academic curriculum ranks us as one of the strongest among our peer institutions; we boast over 200 ways for our students to take an active role in campus life and the community. UT students benefit from an unusually rich educational experience dedicated to developing the whole person.

Our beautiful campus has experienced unprecedented expansion and provides an impressive gateway into Tampa's downtown. This momentum reminds us of UT's paramount responsibility to prepare students to succeed in a complex and technologically advanced global society. Our drive to become a preeminent, medium size, comprehensive, independent university has provided the impetus for this capital campaign.

We are deeply grateful for your support of the Creating Tomorrow campaign. Because of you, we have boldly made progress toward our ambitious yet achievable dream. We are significantly increasing the amount of instructional and recreational space on campus. We are enlarging our endowment to attract and support outstanding students and faculty. We offer the best possible educational experience to the more than 9,000 students who come to UT from throughout the nation and the world to realize their goals.

With your support, I am confident that we will close the campaign in 2018 well above our $150 million campaign goal. Join us and be part of this incredible opportunity. Today ... together ... we can create tomorrow."

Campaign Priorities

Concern for community is an enduring value at UT. One of the ways the University invests in its people is through its endowment. Endowments are a way to combine your vision with the mission of The University of Tampa. A strong endowment is like a perpetual savings account that generates annual interest income for student scholarships, professional development for faculty, innovative campus programs and the latest instructional technology. Unrestricted gifts to the general endowment enable the University to support areas where needs and opportunities are the greatest.

Annual Support

Gifts to the Annual Fund directly augment every aspect of the UT educational experience, from student financial assistance to new programs to library materials to laboratory equipment and athletic uniforms. Annual support from alumni, parents, friends and corporations not only allows the University to balance its annual operating budget but is also critical in keeping our tuition within reach of students and families. Unrestricted gifts can be expended directly in support of UT’s mission, providing the flexibility to employ gifts where they will have the greatest impact.

Capital Projects

The Creating Tomorrow campaign is investing strategically in facilities. As UT’s student population grows, we realize we must foster living-learning communities that forge stronger links between the residential experience and campus intellectual life. Completed residential, recreational and academic building construction and renovation clearly reflect the University’s emphasis on the physical, social and balanced development of the whole student. Three major construction projects are campaign priorities: the Graduate and Health Studies Building, the Technology Building and the Science Building.

Planned Gifts

The Campaign for UT offers a wide range of opportunities for donors to make a difference in the future of the University. Estate gifts of all sizes help make more possible for UT, and they also give back by helping you prepare for your future. They can allow you to take sizeable income, gift and estate tax deductions and provide favorable capital gains tax treatment. They can provide income for you and your loved ones for life. Planned gifts allow you to leave a legacy that fits your philanthropic goals. Contact Planned Giving at (813) 253-6220 to learn more about bequests to UT and the variety of financial instruments available to donors.
