To continue the tradition of giving back, the Class of 2012 Student Giving Committee is seeking to raise $3,000 to create two scholarships
. These scholarships, in honor of the Class of 2012, will be awarded to financially and/or academically deserving students in the fall of 2012. The Student Giving Committee is asking 2012 graduates to consider donating $20.12, or whatever amount that they can, to help create the class legacy. It is important to remember when donating that someone you have never met has helped you reach your educational goals. Class of 2012, this is your chance to pay it forward and leave our legacy!
How Do Annual Gifts Make a Difference?
- Support operating budgets of student organizations.
- Fund new academic initiatives and expand existing programs.
- Fund professorships and awards that keep UT from losing outstanding faculty to peer institutions.
- Construct buildings, residence halls and parking facilities.
- Provide scholarships to the 92 percent of UT students who qualify for financial assistance.
- Enhance student life, career development and leadership development.
- Fund student awards that pay for travel and conference opportunities.
- Fund laboratory equipment and classroom technology.
What do I Give:
Students are asked to consider a gift of $20.12 (or their class year equivalent) in honor of their graduation year. However, gifts of all sizes make a difference. Whether one can spare $5, $20 or $100, the gift will be added to the class total and will make an immediate impact on UT and future students.

Giving to the annual fund helps afford future students the opportunity to experience UT and all it has to offer. But it also helps you. Many publications (such as US News and World Report) rank UT as compared to other Universities. The percentage of alumni (including seniors!) that donate to the University is a factor in determining the University's ranking. The higher UT ranks, the more attractive your degree becomes to prospective employers.

Plus, you will be making a big difference on campus. All gifts make a difference. Even gifts that may seem small to you will combine with similar gifts from thousands of other students, alumni, parents and friends of the University to create a big impact. Last year the Annual Fund raised more than $1 million from more than 5,000 donors. Some of those donors may have thought their gifts were small, but combined, they were able to provide a lot of support for UT.
