The University of Tampa provides many lifestyle options. Continuing students are given first choice of rooms for the following academic year. Brevard Hall, Palm Apartments, ResCom, Straz Hall, Urso Hall and Jenkins Hall house continuing students. The majority of first-year students live in Austin Hall, Boathouse, Frank and Carol Morsani Hall, McKay Hall, Smiley Hall or the Vaughn Center. Some of our students will be assigned to our off-site residential facility, the Barrymore Hotel (formerly the Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel).
Each building offers different floor plans. Most new students are expected to share rooms with at least one other student. New students may also be assigned to triple or quad rooms. Singles are reserved for upper-class continuing students. Learning communities provide opportunities for students to live together based on similar interests.
All residence halls are smoke free. Austin Hall, Boathouse, Brevard Hall, Barrymore Hotel, McKay Hall, Morsani Hall, Smiley Hall and Vaughn Center (floors 3-8) are alcohol-free residence halls.
All student rooms are air-conditioned. Cable television is included in room rates. Each room is furnished with a bed (36 x 80 inches), desk, chair, closet/wardrobe and dresser.Students living on campus have free Internet access through Wi-Fi and ethernet connections in their rooms. There are lounges, vending machines, laundry facilities, game rooms and study areas in all buildings.
In each residence hall, area coordinators and assistant directors supervise specially selected and trained resident assistants. Head residents manage smaller residence halls and report to area coordinators and assistant directors. Office of Residence Life staff assist students and promote an atmosphere conducive to academic achievement, personal growth and physical well-being. Students can pursue many leadership opportunities through residence hall positions and organizations.
