PEACE Volunteer Center

The PEACE Volunteer Center provides opportunities for students, faculty and staff to serve the campus and community. The mission of the PEACE (People Exploring Active Community Experience) Volunteer Center is to increase volunteerism at UT through direct service and advocacy.

The PEACE Volunteer Center works with area community service agencies, including the Humane Society, homeless shelters, and elementary schools. The organization also hosts group projects at sites such as Habitat for Humanity, Haven W. Poe Runaway Center, and the Ronald McDonald House.

PEACE Services
  • Refers volunteers to approximately 350 Tampa Bay community service agencies
  • Aids organizations in choosing and planning a community service project
  • Plans weekly service projects for individuals or groups
  • Helps individuals select ongoing volunteer relationships with agencies
  • Aids faculty and students with service learning opportunities
  • Tracks campus, community, and service hours for organizations and individuals
  • Helps choose and lead volunteer projects
  • Offers class presentations on finding volunteer or service-learning opportunities
  • Provides forms for volunteers for verifying service hours
  • Produces newsletters and updated information for volunteer opportunities
  • Locates work study jobs — off-campus and in America Reads program
  • Promotes advocacy through social action, empowerment, and representation of underprivileged groups
