Information for transfer students starting in the fall.
Congratulations, Spartans, and welcome to your new home at The University of Tampa!
Whether you are transferring from a local community college, an in-state four-year institution or an out-of-state four-year institution, we are excited for you to begin your journey as a UT Spartan! We know that you have prior college experience, and UT has designed your orientation program to meet your needs and help you be successful during your transition to your new campus.
Our orientation program is also designed to help assist family members in participating and understanding their students' experience during this exciting time! For more information regarding registering for Family Orientation and information on the host hotel, please visit the Family Orientation webpage.
As you prepare to come to campus, be sure to take a look at the Transfer Student Orientation Schedule-at-a-Glance in order to maximize your orientation experience.
During the orientation program, all transfer students will receive detailed information about the University’s academic policies and the many services available on campus. Students are also strongly encouraged to review academic policies and procedures, as well as specific degree program requirements in the University Catalog. Transfer students are also strongly encouraged to participate in additional orientation programs starting Thursday, Aug. 24, following move in through Sunday evening, Aug. 27.
All residence halls will open Thursday, Aug. 24. Residential students are asked to go to their assigned residence halls for curbside check-in at their assigned time. Information regarding your assigned check-in time as stated by the students' last name is now available.
In order to expedite your check-in, please make sure to have your photo ID ready to complete the check-in process. Students who arrive prior to their check-in time may spend time waiting before they are able to check-in for orientation and their residence halls.
Commuter students who are cleared are welcome to check-in for orientation in the Grand Salon, Plant Hall on Aug. 24 from 3–5:30 p.m. After 5:30 p.m., all cleared students' orientation check-in (undergraduate, domestic, residential and commuter) will be held at the Vaughn Center Information Desk.
In addition to the new transfer student orientation program, transfer students on F1 visas will arrive for a special orientation prior to the regular new student orientation program. This also applies to new graduate international students within the Office of Graduate and Continuing Studies.
On Friday, Aug. 25, students will begin their orientation experience. Transfer orientation will be held from 1–5 p.m. in Falk Theatre. The orientation program will cover academic policies and procedures, engaging in orientation-related activities and listening to various educational and safety issues. Each evening, social activities will be sponsored by our social Greek letter organizations, Student Productions, Residence Hall Association, Athletics and Student Government.
