Information for families with a student starting fall semester.
A comprehensive orientation
schedule will be posted July 1.
Schedule Summary:
All residence halls will open Wednesday, Aug. 21.
Students are asked to go to Plant Hall's Grand Salon for check-in unless cleared for curbside check-in. Curbside check-in students should report directly to their residence hall. Following check-in to orientation, students are welcome to move into
their assigned residence hall. Please don’t forget to bring your photo ID to
complete the check-in process.
Students
may spend time waiting if they arrive before their assigned time.
The official program for
parents and families begins on Wednesday, Aug. 21, at check-in. For parents and
families who sign-up for family orientation before the deadline, you name tag(s)
will be found in your student's orientation check-in envelope.
Please note that if you are a parent or family member
of an international student (studying on a visa), international students should
arrive on Monday, Aug. 19. A special international student orientation program
will be held Tuesday, Aug. 20, to which you are also
invited. International students also are expected to attend all new student
orientation activities Wednesday, Aug. 21, through Friday, Aug. 23.
Throughout the day on Wednesday, Aug. 21, parents and families are free to help
students settle into their rooms, tour the campus or museum, pay outstanding
bills, etc. Lunch and dinner are provided. There is also a special Family
Welcome Reception at the Hilton Tampa Downtown from 7-8 p.m.
On Thursday, Aug. 22, parents are invited to meet key administrative staff and
attend presentations on Student Services, Residence Life, First Year Learning
Experience, Career Services, Academic Center for Excellence, and Student Health
and Counseling. These programs are held at the Hilton Tampa Downtown. Lunch will be
provided. Families may also return to campus to bid their students farewell.
