Okta is the tool used by the offices of information technology and information security to enable reduced sign-on, allowing staff and faculty of The University of Tampa community to access various accounts without being prompted to login multiple times. Okta is a third-party enterprise-grade, identity management service, built for the cloud, but compatible with many on premise applications.

To open Okta, go to https://utampa.okta.com in any web browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, etc.).

What is my username and password for Okta? | Back to top.

Okta will use the same user ID and password you use to log in to the University network.

Why do I need to set up a secondary email? | Back to top.

Secondary emails are useful in case you forget your Okta password. Click on the Need Help Signing in on the main login page. Click on Forgot Password. Then you can request a password help link be sent to your email address. If you're accessing your UT email through Okta (Okta password is the same as your UT network password) though, you won't be able to access the email that was sent. If you have provided a secondary email address, then Okta will also send the forgotten password email to your secondary email address ¬– making it easy to access and reset your password.

To change your security image, login to Okta on a computer or mobile device. Click on your username in the top menu, and select the ‘Settings’ menu item.

Go to the Security Image section and select Edit. Select a new security image and click Save.

How do I create a new tab? | Back to top.

To create a new tab, click on the '+' sign next to the last tab. You will be asked to enter a new tab name (for example, "Personal"). Enter the new name of the tab and click save to create it.

How many tabs can I have? | Back to top.

You can have up to five tabs.

How do I delete a tab? | Back to top.

To delete a tab, you will need to move all applications out of that tab into another one. Once the tab has been emptied, you will see a Delete Tab option. Select that option, and your tab will be deleted.

How can I change the order in which my apps appear? | Back to top.

To change the order of your apps, click and hold on an app icon, then drag and drop the app to the location you would like it to be displayed.

To move an app from one tab to another, click and hold on the app icon, then drag and drop your app to the new tab.

How do I search an app if I can't remember which tab I put it on? | Back to top.

At the top of your dashboard, you can find apps in the "Launch App" search bar. If you can't remember which tab your app is on, go to the Launch App search, type in the name of your app and select the name to open it.

How do I change my Okta password? | Back to top.

To change your Okta password, login to https://utampa.okta.com on a computer or mobile device. Click on your username in the top menu, and select the ‘Settings’ menu item. Reminder: Your Okta password it the same as your UT network password. Changing your password in Okta also changes your UT network password.

Go to the Personal Information section and select and select Edit. Enter the new secondary email address and click Save.

What do I do if I am locked out? | Back to top.

If you cannot log into Okta, click the 'Forgot Password' link on the Okta login screen to reset your password or contact the IT Help Desk at 6293.

What is Okta Mobile? | Back to top.

Okta Mobile is an application that you download from either the App Store (Apple users) or the Google Play Store (Android Users). It allows you to have the same access to your Okta Application via your mobile device, which means you don’t have to be at your desk to get your work done.

For Apple users, go to App Store and download Okta Mobile.

For Android users, go to the Google Play Store and download Okta Mobile.

Once installed, you will need to enter our organization name “utampa” (without quotes), your Okta username and password. Once authenticated, Okta Mobile will ask you to create a PIN. Simply confirm your PIN again, and you are ready take Okta on the road.
