The University of Tampa will welcome John G. Taft, CEO of RBC Wealth Management, on Thursday, Feb. 5, who will speak as part of the Sykes Hall of Fame Speaker Series.

The event begins at 5:30 p.m. in Falk Theatre, 428 W. Kennedy Blvd., with networking and coffee. The presentation, Back from the Brink of Disaster! Reinventing Capitalism, begins at 6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, but an RSVP is required.

Beginning Tuesday, Jan. 27, The University of Tampa’s Scarfone/Hartley Gallery will present Electronics Alive VIII, a biennial invitational exhibition of computer animations, digital video, interactive digital work and virtual spaces from around the world. The exhibition will run through March 6 and is free and open to the public.

The exhibition features works by UT professors as well as artists from across the globe, including Brazil, Canada, Colombia, France, Germany, Japan, Iran, Israel, Netherlands, Poland and the UK.

John M. Barrett ’87, MBA ’96, president and CEO of First Citrus Bank, will speak at The University of Tampa on Monday, Feb. 2. Barrett’s talk, part of the TECO Energy Center for Leadership Speaker Series, begins at 4 p.m. in the Sykes College of Business building, Room 134. The event is free and open to the public, but an RSVP is required.

Barrett earned his undergraduate degree from UT by attending night classes and owned and managed a lawn maintenance business for several years while working full time at a prominent downtown Tampa law firm. At the age of 34, Barrett started Tampa-based First Citrus Bank with his colleagues on the board, and continues to serve the company as president and CEO today.

Andreas Klein has been called a “pianist who makes silences sound like music” (New York Times). On Saturday, Jan. 24, The University of Tampa will welcome Klein for a piano recital at 7:30 p.m. in Plant Hall’s Grand Salon. The concert is free and open to the public.

The program for the concert, titled From Austria to Argentina, will include works by Mozart, Chopin, Busoni, Stravinsky and Ginastera.

The University of Tampa’s Spring 2015 Honors Program symposia series kicks off Wednesday, Jan. 28, with a presentation by Lt. Gen. Roméo A. Dallaire, who was the commanding officer of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Rwanda prior to and during the 1994 genocide. His talk, titled The Rwandan Genocide, begins at 4 p.m. in the Sykes Chapel and Center for Faith and Values on the UT campus.
