Voltaire famously said, “If God did not exist, it would be necessary to invent him.” At an Honors Symposium on Wednesday, April 15, University of Tampa Associate Professor of Psychology Scott Husband will pose the question, “Why did humans invent God(s)?” and discuss how neuroscientists are exploring the roots of religion.

The presentation, “The Roots of Religion and the Believer’s Brain,” will begin at 4 p.m. in the Macdonald-Kelce Library AV Room 2, and is free and open to the public.

The section of North B Street in Tampa that originates and runs through the heart of the UT campus has been renamed in honor of UT’s founder and first president, Frederic H. Spaulding.

Leaders in the sports tourism, automotive and restaurant industries will share their expertise at the final Business Network Symposium of the 2014-2015 academic year on Tuesday, April 14, at The University of Tampa.

The event begins with a continental breakfast at 7:15 a.m., and the program runs from 7:45–9 a.m. The symposium will be held in the Vaughn Center Crescent Club and is free and open to the public.

The three speakers are Rob Higgins, executive director of the Tampa Bay Sports Commission; Karl R. Horst, a retired Army major general and senior leadership executive at Dimmitt Automotive Group; and Kevin and Karyn Kruszewski, husband and wife owners of Pané Rustica.

The University of Tampa’s 2014-2015 PNC Bank Concert Artist Series at the Sykes Chapel and Center for Faith and Values will come to a close on Sunday, April 12, with a performance by professional choral ensemble The Thirteen. The performance begins at 2 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

For the third year in a row, a University of Tampa team of master’s degree students won the Tampa Bay ACG (Association for Corporate Growth) Cup competition at the University Club in downtown Tampa.
