Tampa’s Leading Sustainable Businesses Honored Feb. 24

Earth Charter US (ECUS) Sustainable Business Coalition, in partnership with The University of Tampa’s Center for Ethics, will recognize 12 local businesses during the fourth annual Sustainable Business Awards luncheon Feb. 24 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The event will be held on the 9th floor of the Vaughn Center on the UT campus.

Students in the UT MBA program, under the guidance of ECUS founder Jan Roberts, developed the criteria for the awards and evaluated the entries. All entries were judged in the categories of people, planet and profit, referred to as the “triple bottom line.” The winners were chosen from a pool of more than 60 entries and include:

Large Business Category (251 or more employees): 

  • IBM
  • Noble Juice a subsidiary of Wm. G. Roe & Sons

Medium Business Category (51-250 employees): 

  • Refurbished Office Furniture
  • Pizza Fusion Skypoint & Westchase
  • Tindale-Oliver & Associates

Small Business (50 or fewer employees): 

  • Coastal Wipers
  • Darren Peña Salon & Spa
  • Douglas Screen Printers
  • Going Green Tampa
  • Scheda Ecological Associates

Sustainability Innovator: 

  • Gramatica SIPS International


The ceremony will be emceed by Terry Tomalin, outdoor/fitness editor for the Tampa Bay Times and author of Everyday Adventures.
