Request a Music Audition

Prospective students may audition on-campus or remotely using Skype or YouTube. To be considered for a music scholarship, students must be accepted to the University, and their music audition must occur before March 1 and be held on-campus or through Skype. (YouTube auditions are welcome, but are not eligible for scholarship consideration.) Admission to the University is competitive, and students who are auditioning for a music degree program should apply to the University as early as possible, regardless of their music audition date.

The Department of Music schedules on-campus auditions concurrently with UT Admissions Open House Events (except for the Jan. 16 and Feb. 27 dates). Auditions typically occur between 10 a.m.-12:15 p.m. and 2:15 p.m.-5 p.m. Prospective students and their families are encouraged to attend our Music Information Sessions from 10:55 a.m.-12:05 p.m., and the Music/Theatre/Dance Campus Tour at 12:15 p.m. Placement exams for music theory, aural skills and piano are administered between 1:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m. and are recommended for students who have had prior training in these areas.
