M.S. in Criminology and Criminal Justice Admission Requirements:

Students may be admitted to the degree program if they meet the following requirements:

  1. Completed application.
  2. $40 application fee.
  3. Baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution. 
  4. Official transcripts from undergraduate degree-granting institution.
  5. Two letters of recommendation from academic and/or professional sources. 
  6. Writing sample indicating evidence of ability to conduct scholarly research (thesis option applicants).
  7. Personal statement. In approximately 500-1,000 words, describe your professional goals and how a graduate degree from The University of Tampa will help you accomplish those goals. In turn, you may also want to emphasize what you can contribute to the graduate program. 
  8. Professional résumé.

Integrated B.S./M.S. Program Admission Requirements: 

Students may be admitted to the combined degree program if they meet the following requirements:

  1. Student in good standing in UT’s criminology and criminal justice major.
  2. Minimum overall undergraduate GPA of 3.0. 
  3. Minimum criminology and criminal justice major GPA of 3.25
  4. Senior status with at least 24 earned credits in criminology and criminal justice major.
  5. Two letters of recommendation from academic sources.
  6. Writing sample, indicating evidence of ability to conduct scholarly research.
  7. Personal statement. In approximately 500-1,000 words, describe your professional goals and how a graduate degree from The University of Tampa will help you accomplish those goals. In turn, you may also want to emphasize what you can contribute to the graduate program. 

Students admitted to the integrated program will enroll in eight graduate credits (two classes) that will be applied to both the B.S. and M.S. degrees. These eight graduate credits will be applied toward program electives in fulfilling the B.S. requirements in criminology and criminal justice. Students are considered undergraduates until completion of 124 credits and satisfactory completion of all B.S. requirements. Upon successfully meeting all B.S. requirements, the baccalaureate degree is conferred and students are automatically classified as graduate students. All graduate application fees are waived for such students.
