The mission of The University of Tampa’s licensing program is to protect
and promote the UT brand and to ensure the public can properly identify
and associate the University’s name and logos with officially licensed
products bearing the University’s marks.
UT’s licensing program
ensures that UT’s brand identity is properly represented on products and
services marketed to the both the University community and the public.
The licensing program is responsible for determining if a product and/or
design are consistent with the goals and image of UT. The program also
ensures the quality, content, production and distribution of products
meets UT's standards. UT contracts with Learfield Licensing Partners to help coordinate its licensing program.
program is a resource for all members of the UT community and the
vendors who work with the University and was designed to ensure
consistent and appropriate use of UT’s visual identity.
There are two types of licenses available:
This is the most frequently requested license, which allows for the
production of emblematic merchandise, which will be sold by the licensee
to retail establishments. This license is issued by Learfield Licensing Partners. Sample
products are reviewed by Learfield Licensing Partners for quality and safety standards prior to
the submission to the University for final approval. The University has
established a standard royalty rate of 10 percent that is included in
the wholesale prices charged by licensees. UT and Learfield Licensing Partners reserve the right
to adjust this program and the respective fees as market trends permit.
Internal Usage License:
company looking to provide emblematic products for internal use by the
University may be considered for this license. The company will still
need to apply with Learfield Licensing Partners and follow all policies set forth by UT and Learfield Licensing Partners,
including artwork submission and approval; however, the standard royalty
percentages and fees may not apply. A holder of this license is not
allowed to sell any products to any party with the exception of The
University of Tampa.
UT licensees are encouraged, within the
stated guidelines, to be creative in the application of UT trademarks.
All designs are subject to approval by Learfield Licensing Partners
and UT prior to production.
All UT trademarks are the property of The University of Tampa.
