The Bachelor of Arts in Spanish
program helps prepare students for graduate or professional schools and
for a variety of career opportunities. Courses are designed to build
strong language skills and to expand cultural awareness.
In
addition to classroom work, students acquire foreign language
proficiency through individualized learning and research projects with
professors, field experiences, campus programs, internships and study
abroad opportunities. Spanish majors are required to take an annual
proficiency exam designed to assess the progression of their listening,
speaking, reading and writing skills, as well as their cultural
awareness.
Students are encouraged to participate in international study and travel experiences.
Opportunities include summer study programs in Spain, travel-study
courses to countries such as Costa Rica, semester- and year-long
