Orientation for Graduate Students in the College of Natural and Health Sciences

UT ENGAGE is a part of the orientation program for all new students in these master's programs:  

 
M.S. in Nursing
M.S. in Exercise and Nutrition Science
Master of Physician Assistant Medicine
 
Doctor of Nursing Practice students:
 first residency dates
 
New students should complete UT CONNECT on Blackboard prior to attending UT ENGAGE. For additional information, contact the Office of Graduate and Continuing Studies at grad@ut.ed or (813) 257-1713. New students who are not U.S. citizens may also want to consult the Office of International Programs.

MSN students are required to complete the following forms:
  • Document Requirements Checklist  
  • Physical Examination Form  
  • Background Check Form
  • Required before starting program:
    • Current RN license
    • Background check ordered with Verified Credential Inc.; instructions for ordering are on SpartanWeb under the orientation tab (cost is $49 flat rate)
     
  • The following documents must be submitted two weeks prior to starting NUR 618/618L Health Assessment:
    • Current BLS certification (must be through American Heart Association and renewed every two years)
    • Medical clearance and immunization form
      Liability insurance (student NP insurance)* needed prior to NUR 618L $1 million/$3 million PPD or GOLD test (also required annually)
    • (If positive test, then CXR required.)
     

New master's students admitted for Fall 2019

Date: Thursday, Aug. 22, 2019
PA students note: orientation begins on Tuesday and continues through Thursday.
Location: Vaughn Center, second floor (see campus map). Check in at the second floor reception desk.  
Time: 
  • 4-5 p.m. Check in and resource fair. Use this time to get your questions answered, pick up your books, get your student ID and parking pass, make sure you can log on to campus technology systems and more. Campus representatives will be available to assist you. Students who have recently attended UT are not required to participate in the resource fair; however, if you have questions, it is a good time to get them answered.
  • 5-6:30 p.m. General session and breakouts. ATTENDANCE REQUIRED.

New master's students admitted for Spring 2020

Date: Thursday, Jan. 16, 2020 
Location: Vaughn Center, second floor (see campus map). Check in at the second floor reception desk.
Time:  

  • 4-5 p.m. Check in and resource fair. Use this time to get your questions answered, pick up your books, get your student ID and parking pass, make sure you can log on to campus technology systems and more. Campus representatives will be available to assist you.
