MBA with Economics concentration '10
Hometown: Tampa, FL
Previous education: University of South Florida, Honors College, bachelor’s in Spanish, International Studies and Business with a certificate in Latin American Studies ‘07
Work history: Spanish teacher at Marshall Middle School, Plant City, FL ‘08-present; graduate assistant to the dean of the College of Social Sciences, Mathematics, and Education, UT, ‘07-‘08
I chose to attend UT because of its excellent reputation, AACSB accreditation, location, beautiful, historical campus and the graduate assistantship opportunities.
My experience at UT has been very fulfilling. I have met friends and professionals from all over the world and have had the opportunity to work closely with my professors and classmates on interesting projects where we were able to solve real world problems for Tampa Bay area businesses. I definitely value the small class size at UT, and I have never had to sit in a classroom with more than 25 students. Academic advisors have been very helpful, and they have been available on a short notice whenever I needed guidance.
I will apply for my Florida Professional Educator’s Certificate this year. Although this is not a typical certification following an MBA, my business courses and projects have allowed me to emerge as a leader in my current profession.
I am not sure at this point what the future holds for me. However, I know for sure that I will be a life-long learner and world traveler. At least I’m going to have to visit all of the new friends I have made at UT which takes me to different continents!
