GMAT Prep Classes
The University of Tampa offers courses designed to better prepare you for the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). If you are planning on acquiring an advanced degree in business, one vital step in gaining acceptance to the program of your choice is your performance on the GMAT. These hands-on classes help prepare students to maximize their personal performance by covering quantitative, verbal, analytical and test-taking skills.
The GMAT is a test produced and administered by the
Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC). It is used by many business schools, including The University of Tampa, to aid in making admissions decisions to MBA and other graduate management programs, including the Master of Science programs in accounting, marketing and finance. The GMAT test is a computer-based exam that is given in English. It tests analytical writing, quantitative and verbal skills. While your GMAT score is only one of the pieces in your application package, it can often be a determining factor in whether you are accepted into your first-choice graduate business program.

The classes are conducted by instructors with expertise in the areas covered by the exam and follow a carefully designed program of study that familiarizes the student with the exam and question types. Student workbooks that follow this planned course of study are provided with the cost of registration. The classroom techniques used by our instructors have proven effective in helping students prepare for the exam. Students become familiar with the test sections and improve their knowledge of the subject matter covered. Sample questions used in the course mimic questions on the actual exam. Students are able to improve their test-taking skills by learning how to problem solve and through understanding how the questions on the exam are formulated. The “tips and tricks” of test taking are particularly useful and can help students reduce their anxiety about the exam.
