UT Scholarships and Grants

UT offers generous scholarships and grants based on academic achievement, talent and financial need. The following programs are available to new undergraduates only. Scholarships are renewable annually and require a minimum GPA be maintained. See Financial Aid Renewal for the renewal requirements for all scholarships.

Although most aid programs are available only to U.S. citizens and permanent residents, UT does offer partial scholarships to academically exceptional international students. Learn more.

Presidential Scholarship

Award amount: Up to $11,000 per year
Eligibility:

• High school applicants planning to enroll at UT full-time
• Demonstrate leadership or community service
• Average unweighted GPA 3.7, average SAT 1250 (ACT 28)*
  

Dean’s Scholarship

Award amount: Up to $9,000 per year
Eligibility:

• High school applicants planning to enroll at UT full-time
• Demonstrate leadership or community service
• Average unweighted GPA 3.5, average SAT 1135 (ACT 25)*

Minaret Scholarship

Award amount: Up to $7,000 per year
Eligibility:

• High school applicants planning to enroll at UT full-time
• Demonstrate leadership or community service
• Average unweighted GPA 3.27, average SAT 1070 (ACT 23)*
  

Spartan Scholarship

Award amount: Up to $4,000 per year
Eligibility:

• High school applicants planning to enroll at UT full-time
• Demonstrate leadership or community service
• Average unweighted GPA 3.0, average SAT 1040 (ACT 22)*
  

* Eligibility based on a sliding scale combining GPA and scores. Unweighted GPA is the average of class grades based on a 4.0 scale as calculated by UT.

Achievement Award

Award amount: Up to $3,000 per year
Eligibility:

• High school applicants planning to enroll at UT full-time
• Demonstrate strong leadership or community service
  

International Baccalaureate Scholarship

Award amount: $1,000 per year
Eligibility:

• High school applicants planning to enroll at UT full-time
• Must apply to UT by May 1
• At least two passes on advanced level IB exams and IB diploma

Transfer Scholarship

Award amount: Up to $6,000 per year
Eligibility:

• College transfer applicants planning to enroll at UT full-time
• 3.0 or higher cumulative college GPA
  

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship

Award amount: $1,000 per year
Eligibility:

• College transfer applicants planning to enroll at UT full-time
• Must apply to UT by May 1
• Proof of PTK membership (submit with admission application)
  

UT Departmental Scholarships

Award amount: varies per department
Eligibility: new students planning to enroll at UT full-time

Athletic Grants

Award amount: varies depending on athletic department recommendation
Eligibility:

• NCAA Division II
• Subject to NCAA rules
• Must complete the FAFSA

• Enroll at UT full-time

Army/Air Force/Navy ROTC Scholarships

Award amount: Up to the cost of tuition, fees and average room and board Eligibility:

• Enroll at UT full-time
• Must complete the FAFSA

• SAT scores are combined critical reading and math scores only.
• ACT scores are composite scores.
• Scholarship funds are limited and amounts may change.
• Scholarship renewal requirements must be met annually.
