Coats is a member of the Florida Communication Association and the National Communication Association. She serves as an oratorical judge for Optimist International, The Cambridge Debates, and University of Tampa Speech Contest. She supports Alpha House of Tampa as a vocational specialist assistant, fundraising guest speaker, and community fair assistant.
