Workshop Information

The Tampa Bay Local Section of the American Chemical Society (ACS) is pleased to host another high school teacher's workshop to aid in the preparation and increased participation of high school students at both the local Chemathon and the U.S. National Chemistry Olympiad competitions. The goal is to promote the knowledge and awareness of chemistry in our communities and to equip teachers with the tools needed to better prepare their students for these exams.

The anticipated outcome of this workshop would realize the development of a sustainable interest in chemistry beyond the classroom setting. It is hoped that not only will there be improved student performance and participation in the Chemistry Olympiad but also that students would become more involved in other ACS-sponsored programs such as ChemClubs, National Chemistry Week and ACS regional and national meetings. This increased awareness of chemistry will hopefully attract more students into the field of chemistry where they will become productive scientists capable of addressing the present and future global issues.
