Veteran students are encouraged to meet with a professional in the Office of Career Services to discuss how their unique experiences can best be translated in the choice of an academic major and/or career path. A wide variety of services including workshops, on-campus recruiting, company information sessions and Open Houses, career fairs, a business etiquette dinner and speed networking are offered each semester.
As a UT student who is also a military veteran, you will find the career resources listed/linked below to be especially useful. Additional career resources in the Office of Career Services are available to you; this page, however, contains resources we have identified as specifically dedicated to the needs of veterans.
Because your skills and experiences differ significantly from those of the more traditional student, you will find it necessary to be able to transfer and translate those skills into terms that are more marketable to a potential employer. After viewing how one veteran styled his resume for his full-time job search, you may want to contact Career Services to set up an appointment for a one-on-one resume critique with one of the professional staff members.
