Using HIRE-UT to look for Experience

Use HIRE-UT to look for internships and part-time/full-time work. We vet thousands of employers from all over, and they post various types of positions on our job search website. This portal also serves as a communication tool for us, so be sure to check your UT emails to get updates about events you may be interested in attending.

Be sure to check off the box that lets employers view your profile, so they can contact you with opportunities for which they think you’ll be a good fit.

Read the below steps to make sure you take advantage of all that HIRE-UT offers.

  1. Click on ‘HIRE-UT and sign in (or click on the HireUT box below).
  2. Using the top toolbar, hover over “My Account,” click on “Profile” and make sure to update it completely. Once you’ve completed that, be sure to upload a critiqued resume to the “document” section (also under ‘My Account’).
    To get your resume critiqued, come in for drop-in hours or make an appointment with a career coach.
  3. Using the top toolbar, click on Employer Directory”if you don’t find a position of interest. Then, type in an organization name or click on “advanced search,” choosing a state/industry.
    1. From there, click on a company, and scroll down to view the “Contacts.” You may professionally email the contacts in a network. You never know what opportunities may come of that.
  4. Using the top toolbar, click on “Jobs and Internship Search to find available positions. From there, you may also click on “advanced search” in order to narrow your search. *Upload your revised resume on HIRE-UT so employers can contact you for opportunities.
  5. Using the top toolbar, click on “Career Events/Workshops,” and register to attend helpful workshops/events/career fairs (free for students/alums).
