The Office of Residence Life has been working diligently to create a solution for students to retrieve their belongings from their rooms. We understand that our students may have items in their rooms that they need to access. For this reason, we have three options for students to utilize to retrieve their belongings. The first two move out options are designed to be contactless, and thus we encourage students to utilize these options when possible. Option three, however, requires staff members provide access to buildings and rooms for designated proxies. Please know that should a different directive or mandate be issued, these options may be terminated; in which case we will have to develop a new plan. Please know that the health and safety of all involved in the move-out process is our first priority.

At the request of students and families, our team continues to assess our move out options weekly. The Office of Residence Life is now extending the move out deadline for an additional weekend. The new deadline to retrieve all personal belongings is June 15, 2020.

Option 1: Moving Company

In an effort to assist students, TSI Shipping has been selected to pack, ship and/or store belongings for UT residential students. Please coordinate with TSI by Friday, May 29, to ensure belonging removal by June 15. Below are the services offered and associated costs:

  • Step 1: Prep and Packing
TSI will manage the packing of all your items into 18-inch-by-18-inch-by-16-inch boxes and label each.
Cost for prep and packing your belongings: $195
If you have additional items that require packing but will not fit in a standard box, additional pricing may apply. Examples include bicycles, furniture and sports equipment.

  • Step 2: Select what you would like to do with your packed items.
    • Option A
Leave your belongings in the space to be picked up by you at a later date. See below for information on making an appointment to move out.
No additional cost outside of step 1.
    • Option B
Have your boxes moved to a local, climate controlled and secure storage facility. Your boxes will be made available for pickup or can be delivered to your new residence hall room prior to the fall semester.
Cost for storing your belongings: $5 per box per month
Larger, non-standard items will be priced separately.
    • Option C
Have your boxes shipped anywhere in the continental U.S. for a flat price based on the number of boxes.
$449 for one to five boxes
$649 for six to 10 boxes
      $759 for 11 to 15 boxes
      $799 for 16 to 20 boxes
Greater than 20 boxes or shipments including non-standard sized items will be custom quoted.
Shipping internationally is available, but prices may vary.

TSI’s team is taking all necessary precautions for sanitary packing by following the CDC guidelines.

TSI Shipping will collaborate with the Office of Residence Life to streamline the process of removing your belongings from the residence hall. Residence Life staff will coordinate access to your hall/room and supervise TSI’s on-site team. To utilize this service, you must contact TSI directly: TSI Shipping.

*The deadline to remove items from your residence hall room is June 15, 2020. Items left in your room after your confirmed move out date and time will be disposed of or donated immediately.

Option 2: Resident Self Move-Out

Students will be allowed to sign up for a specific time to access their rooms. These appointments are limited and available only for students who have in their possession their Spartan ID cards and key access to their room.

For everyone’s health and safety and to promote social distancing, we are limiting the number of students at one time, per building, per day. Appointments will consist of two-and-a-half-hour time blocks, seven days a week, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. or 12:30 to 3 p.m. Appointment will begin starting on April 17 through June 15. Please note that days and times may be extended if local, state and federal guidelines remove contact limitations.

The residence halls are closed. Access to campus and residence halls will be granted only to students who have confirmed appointments with the Office of Residence Life. Residents may bring no more than one (1) guest to assist them with move out. Elevators are limited to use per family and should not be shared by students or guests and facial coverings are encouraged. Per CDC guidelines, guests who have compromised immune systems and/or are being monitored/quarantined cannot accompany residents. To maintain appropriate social distancing, roommates/suitemates will not be permitted to move out during the same appointment day. Additionally, Florida governor’s Executive Order 20-80 directs all persons traveling from New York, New Jersey or Connecticut and entering Florida through airports to isolate or quarantine for a period of 14 days from the time of entry to Florida.

  • Step 1: Use the Eventbrite link sent to your UT email account for your assigned building to request a “ticket” for your appointment time. Once in Eventbrite click select a date, and then scroll to find available dates and times. Appointments are limited. If your desired appointment time is not available, please select a different appointment time that will work with your schedule. Currently, we are unable to add additional appointments.

Eventbrite will permit you to select one ticket. You only need one ticket for yourself (the student); please do NOT request a ticket for your guest. Name, UT email and student ID number are required. Please note selecting the incorrect building or providing incorrect information will result in inability to access the residence halls at your appointment time.

You will receive a confirmation email and ticket from orders@eventbrite.com. Please refrain from making travel plans until your appointment is confirmed.

  • Step 2: Bring your ticket, Spartan ID card and room keys with you to campus. Upon arrival to campus, proceed directly to your residence hall room to pack all items. Adhere to social distancing guidelines during your visit to campus. You must be fully moved out of your room by the end of your appointment time.

  • Step 3: Trash should not be left in your room or in the hallways. The deadline to remove items from your residence hall room is June 15, 2020. Items left in your room after your confirmed move out date and time will be disposed of or donated immediately.
  • Step 4: Leave non-trash, non-perishable, unwanted items in your room. Please mark those belongings accordingly, and they will be donated.

  • Step 5: Return your keys: After moving out, proceed to the Vaughn Center Information Desk in the first-floor lobby. Please read posted instructions, fill out the check-out envelope, insert your keys into the check-out envelope and insert the check-out envelope into the directed mailbox.

You have successfully moved out!

Option 3: Proxy Self Move-Out

Students wishing to designate a proxy will use the Eventbrite link sent to your UT email for your assigned building to request a “ticket” for your appointment time. Once in Eventbrite click, select a date, and then scroll to find available dates and times. Appointments will consist of two-and-a-half-hour time blocks, seven days a week, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. or 12:30 to 3 p.m. Appointments are limited.  If your desired appointment time is not available, please select a different appointment time that will work with your proxy’s schedule. Students will include their full name, proxy full name and phone number. Students may list two proxies. No more than two people will be permitted into a room at a time. Note: only one date and time is able to be reserved due to limited appointments.

The proxy must bring a copy of the Eventbrite confirmation/ticket and photo ID. At the confirmed appointment time only, the proxy arrives at the student’s assigned residence hall and should call the phone number posted on the entry door of the building. A Residence Life staff member will respond to assist in this process. There may be a 15-minute delay as our staff may be responding to multiple buildings. Proxies must adhere to social distancing guidelines, are encouraged to wear facial coverings and must complete the move out by the end of your appointment time.

Attention: Once a proxy is given access they will not be given additional access, so please be sure to plan move-outs accordingly, taking into consideration room and elevator access. Carts are not available. For those buildings with elevators requiring Spartan cards, we ask that movers collect all belongings and take one trip down, so that they will not be locked out of the elevators.

*The deadline to remove items from your residence hall room is June 15, 2020. To accommodate everyone, do not schedule more than one move out appointment.  If you need to change your confirmed move out appointment, please cancel it in Eventbrite before scheduling another appointment. Multiple appointments may be cancelled. Items left in your room after your confirmed move out appointment will be disposed of or donated immediately.

At this time, The University of Tampa has announced the resumption of face-to-face teaching, learning and campus life for fall, and the first day of classes will be Sept. 8, 2020. Therefore, we must have all belongings removed from the residence halls to clean, sanitize, repair and prepare them for reopening this fall.

If you are not able to retrieve your belongings by June 15, your items will be packed and moved to an off-campus climate controlled storage location at your expense. Items will be returned to UT in September. You will not have access to stored belongings from June 15 to Sept. 6. The cost of packing and storage will be assessed to your student account. We strongly encourage you to utilize one of the three move out options available to you prior to June 15.

If you still have your room keys and you do not plan to return to campus by June 15, please include your name, ID number and keys in a sturdy envelope. Use certified mail to send your keys to:
