On campus, the majority of cleaning products used by staff members meet standards that reduce health and environmental impacts compared to similar non-green products. These include general purpose cleaners, glass cleaners, bathroom cleaners, carpet cleaners, disinfectants, floor strippers, waxes, polishes and other kinds of cleaning products. This is a Sodexo policy that is supported by The University of Tampa.
UT uses these green products because they support a healthy campus environment, reduce some premature facility aging and help preserve the environment while being institutionally practical and efficient. Most campus herbicides and pesticides are environmentally responsible products. The cleaning staff uses Green Seal certified paper towels and toilet tissue, which are free from chlorine bleaching and have a high recycled paper content.
