The 2013-2014 Writers at the University series at The University of Tampa continues Tuesday, Jan. 28, with poet Joseph Millar. Millar will give a reading from his latest collection of poetry, Blue Rust
, in the Vaughn Center Crescent Club at 7 p.m. The reading is free and open to the public.
Millar has received fellowships from the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts, as well as a 2008 Pushcart Prize. His poems have appeared in numerous journals and anthologies, including DoubleTake
, The Southern Review
Millar grew up in Pennsylvania and studied at Johns Hopkins University. He spent 25 years in the San Francisco Bay area working at a variety of jobs, from telephone repairman to commercial fisherman. He now teaches in Pacific University’s low-residency MFA program.
