Vaughn Receives Education Award from Istanbul Cultural Center-Tampa Bay

University of Tampa President Ronald L. Vaughn received the Education Award at the Istanbul Cultural Center-Tampa Bay Dialog and Friendship Dinner on Nov. 7 at the Hyatt Regency Tampa.

The evening’s theme was “Value of Dialog in Our Changing Society,” and the keynote speaker was Hillsborough County Commissioner Al Higginbotham. City of Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn received the Community Service Award.

The Istanbul Cultural Center-Tampa Bay is the local chapter of the Turkish American Chamber of Commerce of the Southeast United States, and its mission is to “promote social and economic relations between Turkey and United States, while providing members with a broad spectrum of service and new opportunities to the Turkish and American businessmen with regards to trade, industry, agriculture, construction, mining, NGOs, manufacturing, professional activities and other related activities.”

Vaughn has served as president of The University of Tampa since January 1995. The University of Tampa has approximately seven students from Turkey.
