UT’s Ethics Bowl Team Wins Regional Competition, Advances to Nationals

UT’s Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl team went 3-1 at the Southeast Regional Competition at St. Petersburg College on Nov. 14, beating out 20 other teams from throughout the Southeast and advancing to the national competition for the third straight year.

Lead by Marcus Arvan, assistant professor of philosophy, the four-member team was comprised of Ulixes Hawili ’17, a double major in mathematics and economics; Connor Cloherty ’15, a government and world affairs major; Nick Braganca ’17, a biochemistry major; and Olivia Descala ’18, a government and world affairs major with concentrations in law and government and philosophy. Additional members, who helped prepare the team for the competition included Juhi Kore ’19, a psychology major; Nicholas Rivera ’18, a history major; and philosophy majors Russell McBurnie ’17 and Dalton Peters ’16.

The national competition will be held Feb. 18–21, 2016, in Reston, VA.
