UT Receives Fifth 4-Star Rating by Charity Navigator

Charity Navigator has awarded The University of Tampa with a 4-star rating — the highest a charity can receive — for its adherence to “good governance and other best practices that minimize the chance of unethical activities and consistently executes its mission in a fiscally responsible way.” This is the fifth consecutive year UT has received the 4-star rating.

Charity Navigator, which bills itself as America's largest charity evaluator, highlights the work of charities and provides donors with essential information needed to give them greater confidence in the charitable choices they make.

According to Ken Berger, president and CEO of Charity Navigator, only four percent of the charities they evaluate have received five consecutive 4-star ratings, indicating The University of Tampa “outperforms most other charities in America.”

“This ‘exceptional’ designation from Charity Navigator differentiates The University of Tampa from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust,” Berger said.

Dan Gura, UT vice president for development and university relations, was pleased to receive the designation.

“There are many measurements by which we define our success internally, but it is high praise to receive the 4-star rating, five years in a row, from an organization that is comparing and evaluating thousands of charities throughout the country,” Gura said.
