UT Hosts Experiential Education Workshops Nov. 12

The University of Tampa will host two workshops devoted to experiential learning in higher education: “Strategic Planning for Effective Experiential Education Program Design” and “Service-Learning: The Basics.”

The workshops will be held on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, and are coordinated through the Experiential Education Academy of the National Society for Experiential Education (NSEE).

Speakers include Al Cabral, associate professor of management and director of internships for Nazareth College Rochester, and Suzan Harkness, assistant dean for academic technology and associate professor of political science at the University of the District of Columbia.

The workshops will take place in Plant Hall on the UT campus, in the Grand Salon.

The goals of the NSEE Academy are to provide to NSEE members a foundation in standard theory and practice of experiential education; support practitioners new to experiential education so that their programs will meet the standards of best practice identified by NSEE; facilitate new member access to the expertise and knowledge of senior members; and provide all members with competencies that will lead to the strengthening of experiential education within institutions.
