UT Celebrates the Holiday Season with Let Heaven And Nature Sing Dec. 6

Take a break from the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, and enjoy The University of Tampa’s annual holiday concert, Let Heaven and Nature Sing, on Sunday, Dec. 6. There will be two performances, at 2 and 4 p.m., in the Sykes Chapel and Center for Faith and Values. The program is free and open to the public, but seating is limited. Doors open 30 minutes before the concert.

“The holiday concert is our biggest and most popular concert of the year,” said Ryan Hebert, director of choral studies. “Audience members often comment on how this is the one event that gets them in the holiday spirit.”

The concert will feature performances by UT’s Camerata Singers and Chamber Singers, conducted by Hebert, and a brass ensemble comprised of Aric Brian and Paul Landmeyer, trumpet; Richard Sparrow, horn; and Don Zegal, trombone. There will be guest performances by baritone soloist Joseph Ryan, pianist Grigorios Zamparas and organist Haig Mardirosian.

The program includes seasonal music and readings, and the audience will have the opportunity to sing along with several selections, including O Come All Ye Faithful, Hark! The Herald Angels Sing and Joy to the World.

“Our beautiful chapel is the perfect setting for this type of concert and the audience seems to receive it well, especially since they get to sing, too,” said Hebert. “It’s a great way to end the semester, usher in the holiday season and remind us how music can offer solace even in troubling times.”

The concert is part of the 2015-2016 PNC Bank Concert Artist Series at the Sykes Chapel and Center for Faith and Values, which is underwritten by PNC Bank and the UT College of Arts and Letters. For more information, contact caldean@ut.edu or go to www.ut.edu/sykeschapel.
