Career Specialties: Sneha Murthy specializes in biomaterial synthesis of precious metal nanoparticles using plant parts, plant extracts and bacteria.

Professional and Community Activities: Murthy's research intertwines bioinspired protocols for nanomaterial synthesis, biosorption technology and techniques in molecular biology toward understanding cytotoxicity of nanoparticles in bacteria, animals and plants. Prior to Murthy's position at UT, she was an instructor/researcher at Western Kentucky University during which she studied the mechanistic aspects of gold uptake and nanoparticle synthesis in Arabidopsis thaliana, by transcriptomic, proteomic and ionomic analysis. She collaborated with University College London, UK and Chonbuk National University, South Korea on Monidisperse chitosan nanoparticles for drug delivery, and Biosorption technology for recovering precious metal from industrial waste water.
