Public Welcome to Attend First Friday Chapel Concerts at UT

The University of Tampa has resumed its First Friday at Noon recital series. The next concert is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 5, and will feature Ryan Hebert, University organist and assistant professor of music, performing the music of George Frideric Handel.

These monthly recitals are held at the Sykes Chapel and Center for Faith and Values on the first Friday of every month at noon and typically run approximately 30 minutes. Dubbed “informances,” the recitals feature UT music faculty and students, as well as guest artists, demonstrating the Blüthner grand piano and the 3,184-pipe Dobson organ.

Upcoming recitals, which are free and open to the public, include:

  • Nov. 2: Performances by UT organ students
  • Dec. 7: Harrison School of the Arts Chamber Choir from Lakeland, FL

Hebert said UT is providing these concerts to reach out to people in the community who love the arts.

“With a building as beautiful as the chapel, we want to share it with as many people as possible,” Hebert said.

First Friday at Noon concerts are sponsored by UT’s Resource Team for Faith, Values and Spirituality. Parking is available on the first level of the Thomas Parking Garage. For more information, call (813) 257-3344.
