Music Technology Faculty Show Sept. 22

On Monday, Sept. 22, The University of Tampa will present a concert by Don Saginario, a member of the music department’s music technology and composition faculty. The concert is set for 4 p.m. in the Sykes Chapel and Center for Faith and Values and is free and open to the public.

Saginario will perform jazz/blues standards and original compositions for electric guitar.

Saginario has been performing since he was a teenager and was informally taught by John Kay of Sparrow (Steppenwolf) and Billy Joel, when he performed with The Hassles. He earned a bachelor’s degree in music from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and a graduate degree in music from the Herbert H. Lehman College, CUNY. He served as artist-in-residence in guitar at Long Island University’s Southampton College. Among the highlights of his career were working with the late jazz flutist Herbie Mann, leader of John Lennon’s backup band Stan Bronstein and studying with John Scofield and Joe Monk in New York City.
