Michael Manka is interested in the physical chemistry of organic reactions. He elucidates chemical mechanisms of organic reactions and determines the kinetic rates of these reactions. This information is used to computer model organic reaction mechanisms related to the processing of hydrocarbon fuels and their environmental impact.Professional and Community Activities:
Manka's research interests involve the theoretical determination of kinetic rate parameters for organic reactions important in the processing and combustion of hydrocarbon fuels. He also develops computational chemistry software for the modeling of organic reaction mechanisms.
Several articles on the use of computer modeling of chemical mechanisms are in preparation for submission to the J. Chem. Ed. for publication.
