UT Lowth Entrepreneurship Center to Host Annual New Venture Expo April 13

On Friday, April 13, The University of Tampa Sykes College of Business’ Lowth Entrepreneurship Center will showcase 52 of its students’ startup business concepts at the New Venture Exposition. The exposition will be held from 9 a.m. to noon in the Lowth Entrepreneurship Center, which is located on the eighth floor of the Daly Innovation and Collaboration Building. The event is free and open to the public.

The New Venture Exposition is the culmination of work of center students and program participants. Graduate students in the M.S. in Entrepreneurship program, as well as senior undergraduate students majoring in entrepreneurship, will present business concepts that began development at the start of the 2017-2018 academic year. They will compete alongside Spartan Incubator and Accelerator program participants, many of whom have already committed hundreds of hours to their new ventures.

Cash prizes will be awarded to first, second and third place in two categories: students (graduate and undergraduate) and Accelerator/Incubator participants. Winners will be selected by a panel of judges including UT alumni, faculty members, Lowth Center advisory board members and other community stakeholders in the Tampa Bay entrepreneurial ecosystem. A majority of the judges this year are UT alumni (13 of the 15).

This annual event educates students and the community about opportunities the Lowth Center provides and enhances students’ ability to achieve their professional goals. It also provides employers access to qualified candidates to meet their recruitment needs.

The event is sponsored by Cherry Bekaert.
