A teacher with an extraordinarily broad scope of interests, Dr.
VanSpanckeren has taught American literature throughout the world. Professional and Community Activities:
Her book, Outline of American Literature,
published by the U.S. State Department (second, revised and expanded
edition 2006), has been translated into more than 25 languages.
She was a Fulbright professor to Indonesia and has lectured
on six continents. She has published two chapbooks of poetry, 50
articles and poems and two critical volumes on John Gardner and
Margaret Atwood.
