Head of Beck’s Florida Division to Speak at UT Feb. 5

Mark House, managing director for the Florida Division of The Beck Group, will speak at The University of Tampa on Wednesday, Feb. 5. House’s talk, part of the TECO Center for Leadership Speaker Series, begins at 4:30 in the Sykes College of Business building, Room 134. The event is free and open to the public, but space is limited.

House began his commercial construction career in 1985 after serving more than five years on active duty in the Army. He began a successful specialty contracting company in 1989, providing general construction services and commercial floor coverings to hospitals, schools and office buildings.

He sold the company in 1996 to Shaw Industries and remained as president of the Tampa office until 1999 when he joined Beck. House has held several leadership positions within the company and now oversees the Florida Division, which makes up almost 25 percent of Beck’s annual volume and profit.

Founded in 1912, The Beck Group has contributed to the downtown sky lines of many major cities, including Tampa, Atlanta, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Phoenix and Dallas. Headquartered in Dallas, Beck has three regional divisions in the U.S. and a division in Mexico. One of the country’s largest commercial contractors, the firm has been committed to Florida since the early 1980s.

The TECO Center for Leadership Speaker Series is dedicated to bringing outstanding leaders from the private, government and nonprofit sectors to campus to discuss business topics and corporate strategies with students and members of the community.

Please RSVP by Monday, Feb. 3, at www.cfl-markhouse.eventbrite.com. For more information, contact Melissa Flohr, coordinator of centers and institutes, at mflohr@ut.edu or (813) 257-3782.
