Enjoy a “Choral Collage” at UT Oct. 3

The University of Tampa will present a “choral collage” on Friday, Oct. 3, when four of the University’s five choirs come together for a concert. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Sykes Chapel and Center for Faith and Values and is free and open to the public.

There will be a second performance on Saturday, Oct. 4, at 2 p.m.

“This concert showcases the variety and talent in the music department,” said Ryan Hebert, director of choral studies. “It’s a choral ‘sampler’ featuring works for the oldest musical instrument in the world, the human voice.”

The concert will showcase the variety of choral ensembles at UT, with each performing three to four pieces.

The Men’s Glee Club will sing the famous setting of Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring by J.S. Bach, as well as a hoedown-style piece called Cindy. The Chamber Singers will perform two pieces from the 16th century and a stunning setting of It’s a Grand Night for Singing from State Fair. The Camerata Singers will perform an all sacred program, featuring a very rousing setting of Psalm 150 by South American composer Ernani Aguiar. The Women’s Glee Club will introduce their new conductor, music faculty member Chris Brown, by singing two contemporary works.
