Ducky’s Establishes Athletic Scholarship at UT

The ownership group of Ducky’s, a restaurant and sports lounge on Kennedy Boulevard in Tampa, has announced the establishment of an endowed scholarship at The University of Tampa.

The restaurant partners will fund a $50,000 endowed scholarship through a five-year pledge. The funding will be generated through the donation of five percent of the restaurant’s revenue on the first Wednesday of every month. The first “UT Wednesday” will be held next Wednesday, Sept. 2.

Once fulfilled, the scholarship will be awarded to an incoming freshman athlete with demonstrated financial need.

Anthony Prieto, a Ducky’s co-owner, said the ownership group is thrilled to partner with its neighbor, The University of Tampa, on a student athlete scholarship.

“We truly appreciate the support of the students, faculty and fans and look forward to forging this new partnership with the University,” Prieto said.

Gary Grant, UT vice president of development and university relations, said the scholarship will greatly help a student athlete each year to be able to attend UT.

“We are very grateful to Ducky’s for demonstrating their commitment to education, to the community and to our students’ success,” he said.
