Dr. Rey specializes in international relations and comparative politics. His current research focuses on how political institutions impact foreign policy outcomes. He is also interested in democratization and development in Latin America. His interests include learning about transnational actors such as NGOs and advocacy networks within the region and how they position themselves, network and serve as engines of democratization and development.
Professional and Community Activities:
Dr. Rey has published in several academic journals and presented papers at numerous political science conferences. He is working on a book manuscript focusing on the influence of electoral rules on foreign policy outcomes. He is also working on projects ranging from bureaucratic politics to e-government service allocation. Prior to entering academia, Dr. Rey served 11 years as a case manager for the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services.
