Career Specialties
An early adopter of simulation, Susan Garbutt has been using high fidelity clinical simulation to teach nursing students and health care prfessionals since 2003. Her 35 years of nursing practice include acute care, geriatrics, infection prevention, staff development, academia and military health care
Professional and Community Activities:
Garbutt serves as a major in the United States Air Force Reserves Nursing Corps. She has presented at national and international conferences on emergency preparedness, patient safety, evidence based practice, infection prevention, global nursing and clinical simulation. An enthusiastic educator and simulation champion, she serves as a peer reviewer for several journals and major book publishers and has authored journal articles and textbook chapters on evidence based practice, emergency preparedness and infection prevention.
