The University of Tampa’s PEACE (People Exploring Active Community
Experience) Volunteer Center received the Volunteer Organization Award
from Keep Hillsborough County Beautiful (KHCB).
The award was presented at KHCB’s annual awards recognition luncheon on Aug. 8.
The goal of the awards program is three-fold:
- To honor individuals for taking it upon themselves to pick up litter and keep their neighborhood clean.
- To recognize groups who play an active role in their neighborhood and perform community improvement programs.
- To highlight businesses that make a commitment to litter prevention
through volunteer efforts and/or exemplary community improvement
activities.
PEACE continues its efforts with KHCB
through its “Into the Streets” program, scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 23.
Along with 11 other community partners, KHCB has coordinated a project
for current students, faculty and staff to volunteer in the community.
This year, the students will assist KHCB with their Trash Troopers
Hotline program.
The mission of Keep Hillsborough County
Beautiful is to prevent litter, promote recycling and conservation, and
clean up and beautify our community through action, awareness and by
fostering stewardship.
