The University of Tampa’s resident croc expert talked about his
research in a special on giant saltwater crocodiles airing on the
National Geographic Channel on Sept. 12.
Dr. Mason Meers, chair
of the biology department at UT, was featured in the show, “Explorer:
Ultimate Crocodile,” which focused on one of nature’s most successful
predators. In the special, Meers discussed how the bumps on a
crocodile’s body may act like the dimples on a golf ball, helping the
predator to travel through the water more swiftly and sneak up on
unsuspecting prey.
